Make sure the rear subframe is in good shape. Those tend to go out on the E46. The E46's are pretty easy to wrench on, so if you can do the maintenance I'd give it a shot. The electronics will likely fail in some way or another. I know BMW fanbois are going to downvote this to hell and back but it's true. BMWs have terrible wiring.

Take pride in having such a clean "survivor" car. Take pride that everything works perfectly on such an old car. Have a BMW classic that you would not be worried to drive coast to coast.
