The way I found to permanently disable it is to make it a habit to turn it off every time you start the car. After several months of this habit I forget whether I even pressed the button on start and look down when I approach some stop signs to see it already lit up. Feels like magic. I don't remember turning it off, yet there it is, off.
Can a bad crankshaft position sensor stop an engine from starting, or does it only cut the engine off while it is running? It is a 2008 subaru if that helps at all.
